Pick Your Poison

I think I can officially say this is my OTP... and very rarely will I lean towards a pairing.

Say what you will, but these two are great - book and movie. They have the chemistry the movie lacked and the compatibility the book got right, you know? _{And what a handsome couple they make!}

It’s no stretch of the imagination either. I think we can all agree that Astrid and Camicazi are incomparable with their different personalities and priorities. The Hiccups, on the other hand, are quite relatable—if anything, we have book!Hiccup and book!Fishlegs merged in movie!Hiccup with that ‘downer’ sarcasm he’s got. It’s the character combination that wins here, that combination of Hiccup and Camicazi that I fell in love with, and so long as Berk resides in the Barbaric Archipelagoes it’s still completely plausible. If there can be a chief named Stoick (of similar design) in either storyline then there can be a Bog Burglar heiress that Hiccup has known since he was a boy.

Basically, faced with the option of writing/drawing Hiccup in a romantic entanglement I can’t help but choose this one. It’s just such a better fit – even in the movie. They just have a beautiful compatibility. What more, there’s something infinitely more passionate about Hiccup and Camicazi being together. Passionate and exciting. There’s a depth brought on by their history, an energy from their clashing cultures, and there’s that element of danger—not a physical danger (Hiccup trying not to get hit) but an emotional one (possibly destroying their friendship). We can see Camicazi evolve in the books regarding her appraisal of Hiccup. It starts with her allowing him that he’s “not bad, for a boy” and grows to viewing him as a hero. There's growth and wonder and conflict and that's what makes it such a great pairing.

Plus...just look how cute they are.

This was originally drawn for another valentine so I was using refrences...I hadn’t expected it to come out so adorable. And Hiccup just looks great!
